The design of the AMG GT R represents aesthetic clearness Ė hot & cool. The auto is equipped with robust body, motorsport elements and an attractive AMG Panamericana grille.

A real engineering achievement presents the entirely innovative aerodynamics profile, which is almost unnoticeably hidden in the body bottom in front of the engine. This carbon element with a weight of approximately two kilograms is capable of automatic downward movement by 40 millimetres and significant modification of the airflow.

Another technical novelty enhancing aerodynamic characteristics of the AMG GT R presents the equipment for air traffic control. This equipment possesses vertical louvers placed in the lower part in immediate proximity to the front fascia behind it. Itís possible to open and close the louvers during a second using an electric actuator in order to enhance the airflow and therefore the aerodynamic properties.

The rear end also possesses notable novelties: the side walls made of aluminium expand the back part of the AMG GT R by 57 millimetres, providing area for wheels and track. These measures allow to enhance traction and increase cornering speeds.

The innovative AMG coil-over suspension was developed intentionally for the AMG GT R model. As surely as in professional motor racing, drivers are provided with individual adjustment and unlimitedly regulate the spring pre-load by hand. This allows to have an impact on the dive and roll motions and the grip of the auto as accurately as required to customize them according to customerís needs or to the definite racing track.

The coil-over suspension is supplemented with the AMG RIDE CONTROL constantly changeable damping system. The system is capable of automatic adjusting the damping on every wheel considering the ongoing handling conditions, the speed and traffic situation. The damping characteristics are regulated quickly and accurately using two individual valves.

The innovative AMG TRACTION CONTROL system is borrowed from auto racing. It offers preliminary selection of the slip on the driven back axle in nine possible levels.

Control is performed by means of a specific rotary switch placed in the centre console lower than the ventilation openings. In accordance with the chosen setting, the system allows to increase or decrease slip on the back wheels that brings great benefits in changeable traffic situations.

The AMG GT R is conventionally fitted with an electronically regulated limited-slip differential positioned on the back axle, which is incorporated in the transmission housing.

The interior of a car salon is also characterized by motorsport features. Regulated by hand AMG sports seats covered with nappa leather and DINAMICA microfibre are offered as conventional furnishing. They provide the required lateral support while extraordinary driving manoeuvres. Customers can acquire AMG seats as a variant without additional cost.

The instrument panel reminds a forceful wing and features the subject matter of aviation. Four central vents attracting attention and the separate vents placed at the right and left ends of the instrument panel accentuate this theme.

One important feature that improves the running performance of a sports auto presents its weight. Mercedes-AMG is made of various materials including aluminium, steel and magnesium. Magnesium is an extraordinary lightweight material that enhances agility of the auto.

The application of robust carbon fibre contributes to reducing weight. For instance, this material has been used in the construction of front wings, the roof and the torque tube.

The AMG engineers have redesigned the dual-clutch transmission with six options of speed and transformed the hardware and the software with the aim of increasing suitability of the transmission for the raceway.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R was launched on 24 June 2016 in Brooklands, England and has become commercially available on 21 November 2016.
