Lexus RC (2015)

Lexus RC

The luxury-sport coupe category is about to get a lot hotter. The 2015 Lexus RC 350 arrives melding audacious design and high performance like no Lexus before. Engineered as a stand-alone model, rather than as a two-door derivative of a sedan, the RC delivers all the performance, individuality, and unique luxury and technology that its body promises. Lexus expects the RC to attract the next generation of luxury buyers and those new to the brand.

While the RC 350 swaggers with a striking exterior, it features efficiency under the hood. A standard 306 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 teamed to an eight-speed Sports Program Direct Shift (SPDS) transmission for rear-wheel drive models helps provide smooth acceleration, predictable torque and good fuel economy.

A key to the RC's exceptional handling ability is a new ultra-stiff platform. The RC is the latest model from a ride and handling transformation at Lexus that started with the current GS midsize luxury sedan and progressed with the new-generation IS sport sedan. Following the stunning, limited-production LFA supercar, those latest Lexus models and the new RC are taking the brand in a more emotional design/performance direction.

From launch, Lexus will offer the new RC 350 in both rear-wheel drive and with all-weather drive, the latter using a six-speed automatic transmission, and an F Sport version. Distinguished by exclusive exterior design and interior features, the F Sport will also raise the performance ante with standard Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system and the available Lexus Dynamic Handling system, which includes rear-wheel steering.

Lexus RC F (2015)

Lexus RC F

The aggressive new Lexus RC F coupe has been designed for optimum high speed stability to support the most powerful V8 performance car ever developed by Lexus.

The 5.0-litre V8 develops 351kW (477PS) of power at 7100rpm and 530Nm of torque from 48005600rpm, driving through a close-ratio eight-speed sports direct shift with the option of a world-first application of a torque vectoring differential for front-engine/rear-drive vehicle to enhance power delivery.

It is the second generation V8 F model from Lexus, intended to evoke the best of tuning and technology from the flagship V10 LFA supercar (of which just 500 were manufactured).

F for Fuji Speedway where much of Lexus high speed development occurs has become its pinnacle sports brand, adding greater depth to the entire model range on three elements of Fun: response, continuous acceleration feeling, and sound that engages with and excites the driver.

RC F is intended to bring great driving pleasure to owners on road and track.

Resolutely powerful design interpretations both cosmetic and dynamic distinguish RC F from the RC on which it is based.

To complement its higher horsepower delivery RC F has a far more comprehensive aerodynamic package, including an active rear wing, a purpose-designed brake and suspension system, wider wheels and tyres and unique styling which is functional as well as startling.

An electronically enhanced driveline based on Lexus Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) enable amateur drivers to get closer to limits previously attainable only by trained professionals. The same systems generate even greater levels of safety on the open road.

Lexus RC F Sport (2015)

Lexus RC F Sport

Based on the striking Lexus RC, the RC 300h F Sport and the RC 350 F Sport will feature exclusive, even more sporting and aggressive exterior and interior design features, and enhanced driving dynamics.

Building on the Lexus enhanced ride and handling characteristics delivered by the RC and the GS and IS models before it, the F Sport's dynamic upgrades take the form of exclusively tuned front and rear suspension systems, the availability of Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) with the SPORTS+ driving mode and the Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system, providing drivers with an even more rewarding and engaging driving experience.

STUNNING TWO-DOOR COUPE EXTERIOR DESIGN

The design features a compact cabin contrasted by aggressively flared wings and body contours etched with deeply sweeping lines.

Readily identified by a model-specific 'F' mesh design, the front of F Sport models features a further evolution of the Lexus spindle grille. Befitting the coupe's styling flair, the grille is wider and lower than that of other Lexus models. Perfectly integrating design and function, it incorporates both fog lamps and air intakes for brake cooling.

The RC's compact, triangular headlamp design evokes the sporting characteristics of the LF-LC concept. Each light cluster in the simultaneously-illuminating, three-lamp design contains both high and low beam lamps. The Lexus trademark L-shaped design of the low beam lamps combines with the independently located LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) to give the new RC an aggressive, sporting and entirely unique visual signature.

Lexus ES (2016)

Lexus ES

Maintaining luxury leadership requires a relentless pursuit. Lexus, after giving the ES significant enhancements for 2015, maintains its momentum by endowing the 2016 Lexus ES with a makeover for the front, rear and wheels; and new safety, connectivity and multimedia technology.

The Lexus ES 350 serves as part of the brand's strategy in the entry-luxury segment, combining flagship-type comfort (including 40 inches of rear seat legroom) with front-wheel drive traction. The Lexus ES delivers strong and efficient performance from a standard 268-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine teamed to an ultra-smooth six-speed automatic transmission.

The current-generation Lexus ES was already wearing the Lexus spindle grille, the brand's signature design feature, and for 2016 it receives a more strongly styled, even bolder, one-piece version, framed by elegant satin chrome trim. New standard LED headlights give the ES a steely stare at night. A fully redesigned front fascia puts the fog lights at the corners to accentuate the wide stance.

The 2016 Lexus ES shows a more sophisticated look from the rear, too, with distinctive L-themed taillights and new chrome-tipped rectangular exhaust ports peeking through a restyled rear fascia, as on the flagship LS. The freshened design extends to new optional 17-inch alloy wheels and four new exterior colors.

Hybrid Powertrain

The beauty of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system comes through in its transparent operation. The system combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor to generate 200 total system horsepower. It will run on electric motor or gas engine alone, or a combination of both, based on the driving situation. The Hybrid System Indicator shows use of energy and encourages efficient driving habits.

Lexus GS 200t (2016)

Lexus GS 200t

The Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance, the premier concours event in the United States, is an appropriate setting for the 2016 Lexus GS models to be introduced. The GS enters 2016 with a bolder design, a new GS 200t rear-wheel drive model and new luxury finishes that match the refinement of Monterey. The Lexus GS continues to feature impressive agility and sporty handling for turns along California Highway 1, as well as comfortable ride quality for extended highway driving. This is no modest mid-size luxury sedan. The engaging performance and amenities make the GS 200t, the GS 350 or GS 450h an excellent choice for delighting enthusiast drivers as well as luxury connoisseurs.

The Lexus GS epitomizes the intersection of style and refinement with a strong rendition of the Lexus signature spindle grille for 2016, framed by elegant satin chrome trim and flanked by distinctive new standard Bi-LED headlights. The nighttime glow is unmistakably the look of Lexus.

A new front bumper and rocker panel design further sharpen the coupe-inspired profile, with the makeover extending to revised taillights, revised rear trim and new 18- and 19-inch machine-finish wheel designs. Bold design deserves bold color, and so the 2016 GS offers new Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 among other choices. The mica colors use an extraordinarily complex multi-layered, twice-baked process previously used only for concept vehicles or custom cars.

Every year Pebble Beach brings together the best in elegance and technology from decades past. The 2016 Lexus GS presents a modern interpretation—exemplified by new interior trim selections including laser cut wood, Matte Walnut, Linear 3D and for the F SPORT, Naguri aluminum. New interior and leather colors include Chateau and Noble Brown, while the F SPORT adds Rioja Red to available choices. The analog clock located in the center of the dash is housed in a single ingot of aluminum and uses LED indicators. It adds new GPS functionality for adjusting the time zone.

Lexus GS F (2016)

Lexus GS F

The Lexus GS F performance sedan - based on the popular GS - is armed with a potent 467 horsepower (477 PS / 351 kW), 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 and excellent handling developed on the most demanding race circuits, including the legendary Nürburgring.

Its elegant-yet-aggressive styling effectively characterizes the essence of Lexus' performance-oriented "F" brand, highlighted by bold front fascia with race-inspired functional air inlets, triple-beam headlamps, low-slung wide stance, large brake calipers, carbon-fiber rear spoiler and quad exhaust rear diffuser. While it's more than capable of taking on a twisty mountain road, the Lexus GS F is still a sedan that's ideal for everyday use. It seats five comfortably in a luxuriously appointed cabin filled with high-tech amenities and advanced safety technologies, including standard Lexus Safety System +.

The Lexus GS F offers enthusiasts the best of all worlds: it's a car that will provide thrills and excitement on challenging switchbacks, all the while offering occupants unprecedented style and comfort.

"As Lexus' "F" brand vehicles continue to evolve and grow in number, it is important that these models offer differentiated and unique driving characteristics in their segments. It's something that's fun to drive no matter who is driving or where it's being driven. The sedan embraces the virtues of sound, response and limitless power feel to support Lexus' "F" brand identity of a performance car," said Yukihiko Yaguchi, Emeritus Chief Engineer of the GS F.

Lexus IS F-Sport [US] (2016)

Lexus IS F-Sport [US]

The Lexus IS luxury sport sedan models will continue to delight drivers with their balance of luxury, agility and sportiness as they enter 2016 model year with a three model strategy with IS 200t, IS 300 AWD, and IS 350. The former IS 250 and IS 250 AWD are discontinued.

The IS adds to its stable of engines and receives a turbocharged gas engine, bringing the number of engine alternatives to three. Drivers will have a hard time deciding which IS to take home with rear-wheel drive (RWD), all-weather drive (AWD) and F SPORT variants.

The new IS 200t, available as RWD only, features a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with intercooler paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine cranks out 241 hp and has 258 lb.-ft. torque at 1,650-4,400 rpm. Lexus developed the turbocharged engine in house, first integrated it into the NX luxury utility hybrid for 2015 model year, and modified it for IS 200t.

The Lexus IS 200t features a combination of water-cooled cylinder head, integrated exhaust manifold and twin scroll turbocharger for fast throttle response, performance and high torque at low engine revs. Variable Valve Timing intelligent - Wide (VVTi-W) allows the engine to switch between the Otto and Atkinson cycles.

The D-4ST direct injection system combines a high pressure fuel system for injection directly in to the cylinders with a low pressure system for injection into the ports. Injection is split between the direct and port injectors according to the engine load to help fuel economy.

Lexus LX 570 (2016)

Lexus LX 570

Pebble Beach might be known for golf 51 weeks out of the year, but for one week each August, the cars take over. The Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance, which anchors Monterey Car Week, hosts some the world's most beautiful classic automobiles and is also the ideal venue to introduce a flagship premier luxury sport-utility, the 2016 Lexus LX 570. With a powerful V8, sophisticated 4WD chassis and seating for eight, the Lexus LX 570 remains one of the few luxury utility vehicles that combines sumptuous luxury with true off-road capability.

Lexus left barely any surface of the LX 570 untouched in a sweeping upgrade for 2016, with only door panels carried over from 2015. The restyled front end wears an even bolder rendition of the Lexus signature spindle grille, framed by elegant satin chrome trim and complemented by distinctive new standard LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights. The Lexus LX 570 design makeover gives it new 20-inch split 10-spoke wheels, and new available 21-inch 10-spoke wheels. The taillights and rear bumper also get a new look.

The upgrades for 2016 go beyond skin-deep. An eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the former six-speed for enhanced performance and efficiency. New Drive Mode Select, as used in other Lexus vehicles, allows the LX 570 driver to tailor powertrain and suspension responses by using a dial on the console. The system also controls responses of the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which continually adjusts shock absorber damping rates while driving, helping to ensure optimal comfort even as the road surface changes.

Lexus RX 350 (2016)

Lexus RX 350

Since the model's launch in 1998, the Lexus RX has proved immensely popular with those needing the flexibility of a sport-utility vehicle combined with the driving comfort of a luxury sedan, all wrapped in an attractive, elegant package. The all-new RX's mix of sharp creases and curves represents a bold evolution in the model's styling, sharing the same design DNA with other recently-launched models in the Lexus lineup. Moreover, this perennial best-selling luxury crossover features hybrid and gasoline powertrains, sophisticated safety features, driver aids and welcome new convenience and technology features to make this one of the best Lexus luxury utility vehicles offering to date.

Exterior and Interior Design

The front view of the new RX is characterized by an emboldened version of the Lexus brand's signature spindle grille, featuring a chrome-plated border and triple L-shape-LED headlamps. The available L-shaped LED headlight is accompanied by 18 individual LEDs that surround the headlights and act as turn signal indicators. A compact Bi-LED headlight is standard. Also, Intelligent High Beam (IHB) is available as part of available Lexus Safety System +. Intelligent High Beam helps ensure optimal forward visibility during nighttime driving and automatically turns off the high beam headlamps when another vehicle is detected. When no other vehicle is present, the system turns on the high beams.

The spindle design theme of the front of the RX also defines its rear design, providing a high level of aesthetic balance and consistency to the vehicle's overall demeanor. The LED rear combination L-shaped taillights envelope the tailgate while wrapping forward around the rear fender sections, resulting in a powerful and wide stance. Of particular note are the blacked-out C-pillars, which provide a floating-roof effect never before seen on a Lexus product. Other new exterior features are flush-fitting headlight washers, panoramic moonroof design, solid roof rails, redesigned SmartAccess door handles and convenient door handle illumination. Also, three new exterior colors have been added: Caviar, Autumn Shimmer and Nightfall Mica. All RX models feature a scratch-resistant self-restoring coat in the body paint, which uses a high-performance macromolecular polymer. The high elasticity of the material helps resist scratches, such as from fingernail marks around the door handles. The paint also possesses a high level of gloss retention to help enhance the initial gloss and color of the paint over a long period of time.
